Developers of Aberdeen's offshore wind farm want to build a substation on land close to the billionaire's Menie Estate golf resort. It would link the turbines to the National Grid.
The application was put on hold at a committee meeting in April pending an environmental impact assessment of the former landfill site near Blackdog.
Wind-farm developers yesterday confirmed the assessment had uncovered low levels of asbestos contamination in the ground.
Partners behind the £230 million project have promised to carry out improvements if the substation plans were approved.
The proposals are expected to go out for consultation.
