Summit call to tackle increase in violence against betting shop staff

A NATIONAL summit is needed to tackle violence against betting shop staff following a rise in the number of attacks and robberies in the west of Scotland, it has been claimed.

Figures released by Strathclyde Police show there were 17 reported assaults at betting shops in 2011, compared to just three the year before, while the number of robberies went up to from 25 to 33.
