Surge in UK charity income

UK charity shops have seen annual income and profits surge over the past year as people turn to them for bargains, a report found.

The 21st Charity Shops Survey, which examined more than 6000 outlets from 74 charities including the three leading organisations, British Heart Foundation, Oxfam and Cancer Research UK, revealed annual income had grown by 6.8% to £716.4 million and profits by 14.3% to just over £175m.
