Taffner collection goes on sale

Fine Art specialist Cathy Marsden poses with Sir John Lavery's painting of the young Shirley Temple, valued at around £40,000, which is due to be auctioned in Edinburgh on Friday.

It is part of the late New York media tycoon Donald L Taffner and his wife and business partner Eleanor's collection. It includes the largest single private collection of furniture, drawings and paintings by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The Taffners brought many British shows to the US including Benny Hill.
