Tartan Army invades Alicante

MORE than 15,000 Tartan Army members were estimated to have landed in Alicante yesterday for the crucial Euro 2012 qualifier against World Cup holders Spain.

The fans were not letting restrictions on tickets get them down as thousands in Scotland’s colours took to streets to get the party started on the eve of the game.

It is estimated that only 3800 of the Scotland fans will have tickets, 2000 of whom managed to purchase them over the internet. Many fans discovered a loophole that allowed them to buy from the ServiCaixa website, Spain’s largest ticket retailer. Priced from £35 to just less than £69 they were not able to buy tickets for the area set aside for the Tartan Army.
