A teenager has denied murdering a barman and setting fire to his body.

Ryan Esquierdo, 19, from Cumnock in Ayrshire, is accused of killing Stuart Walker, 28, also of Cumnock.

Mr Walker's body was found at the side of a road in Caponacre Industrial Estate in Cumnock in October.

Esquierdo is accused of punching, kicking and stamping on Mr Walker's body, as well as biting him and putting his hand over his mouth. He is also accused of restricting his breathing by compressing his neck and setting fire to him.

The teenager is also charged with stealing a mobile phone, earring, watch and cash.

It is also alleged he told police he and Mr Walker were assaulted by unknown men.

The case continues next month.
