Teenagers rekindle Scouting passion

Television adventurer Bear Grylls may seem the polar opposite of the reserved stiff upper lip of Scouting’s founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell, but the action man is thought to be behind the biggest surge in membership in Scotland for more than half a century.

Scottish Scouting has reported its biggest surge in members since the mid-1950s – with more than 1700 new members having joined in the last year.
