Terry banned and fined in race slur case

Chelsea captain John Terry has been banned for four matches and fined £220,000 for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

The former England captain received the punishment for using insulting words which included a reference to Ferdinand's colour or race following an FA independent regulatory commission hearing, the FA have confirmed.

Terry had denied an FA charge that he racially abused Ferdinand in a Premier League match last October.
