The Scheme taken off air after teenager charged with assault

It has been one of the most talked-about shows on television, with its frank depiction of the troubled lives of people in one of Scotland’s deprived housing estates.

But stark reality invaded the debate last night, as the BBC announced the final two episodes of The Scheme would not be screened because a resident featured in those shows has been charged with assault.
