Theatre goes dark

THE board of the Byre Theatre in St Andrews has said it "deeply regrets" its enforced closure.

The venue, which has been hosting drama productions for the past 80 years, will close its doors on Thursday after running into financial difficulties.

In a statement, the board said the Byre had struggled to cover its costs since reopening after undergoing a £5.5 million facelift in 2001.
