Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton has been honoured at a star-studded birthday bash at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Singer David Bowie, actor Ralph Fiennes, designer Karl Lagerfeld, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Mayor Michael Bloomberg were just a few of the celebrities who paid tribute to the Scottish-based actress at the 6th annual MoMA Film Benefit, on her 53rd birthday.

Swinton, who won the best supporting actress Oscar in 2008 for her portrayal of a ruthless lawyer in Michael Clayton, told the crowd it was her birthday, and that the last time she had a birthday party was when she was nine years old. She said this was a better party.

Fiennes introduced a montage of her work, including clips from the films Orlando, Burn After Reading and Michael Clayton.
