Tommy not finished yet, says wife

Tommy Sheridan vowed yesterday to continue the socialist fight from his prison cell as he prepared to begin a three-year jail sentence for perjury, while his wife, Gail, said that “it would not be long” before her husband, a former MSP, would be back – and stronger than before.

Sheridan, 46, was driven to HMP Barlinnie in Glasgow shortly after noon. He is likely to be free in a year.

Within minutes of sentence being passed, his lawyer Aamer Anwar lodged an appeal against the conviction.
