Some of Scotland's best loved bands and musicians will release their latest albums this year.

Biffy Clyro

Four years after ‘Only Revolutions’ cemented their position as one of Britain’s biggest bands, the Ayrshire rockers release their sixth studio album ‘Opposites’ in January. The double album, which was originally announced as a pair of records called The Land at the End of Our Toes and The Sand at the Core of Our Bones, will feature 20 songs including Stingin’ Belle and the single Black Chandelier.

Edwyn Collins

The former Orange Juice frontman will follow-up 2010’s critically acclaimed ‘Losing Sleep’ with his eighth studio album, ‘Understated’, in March. Collins recently described the album as “northern soul, crossed over with punk”. It will feature 11 songs, including two co-written by musician Richard Hawley.

Travis

The Glasgow band will release their seventh studio album, ‘7’, in the first half of 2013. The group recently finished recording the album at Ocean Sound Recordings in Norway with producer Michael Ilbert. It is the band’s first album since 2008’s Ode to J Smith.

Roddy Woomble

The former Idlewild frontman will release his third folk tinged album, ‘Listen to Keep’ in March. The 11 track album was produced by Woomble and Gordon Maclean at An Tobar on the Isle of Mull.

Frightened Rabbit

The Scottish indie five-piece will release their experimental fourth album, ‘Pedestrian Verse’ in February. The album marks the band’s first foray into group songwriting, with Scott Hutchinson no longer being left to write the tracks alone. The 12 track album follow the release of EP State Hospital in September 2012.
