Tourism body in red after £2m payoffs

SCOTLAND'S national tourism quango has gone into the red after spending more than £2 million on payoffs for its staff in the last financial year.

VisitScotland ended the financial year £32,000 in the red, according to its latest set of annual accounts. One factor was a £2.2m bill for voluntary severance payments, 10 times the £200,000 it spent on payoffs in 2010.
