Two police officers who died when their police helicopter crashed into a bar in Glasgow have been remembered at the National Police Memorial Day.

The Prince of Wales and Home Secretary Theresa May attended the event in Belfast yesterday, where prayers were said for among others, PCs Kirsty Nelis, 36, and Tony Collins, 43, who died in the Clutha tragedy in November last year, along with eight other people.

Julie Jeffrys, the widow of Constable Neil Jeffrys who died in hospital nine years after his patrol car was involved in a crash near Loch Lomond in 2001, lit a candle for police who have died. Sergeant Joe Holness, who founded the commemoration, said: "It brings together police forces, officers, colleagues, friends and family from across the country."
