NEIGHBOURS and friends of one of the men killed in the tragedy have paid tribute to a "real gentleman".

Robert Jenkins, from East Kilbride, was in the Clutha bar with his partner Mary when the helicopter struck.

The 61-year-old's daughters Claire and Elaine accompanied Mary on a visit to the site of the crash yesterday.

Speaking from East Kilbride, Mr Jenkins' long-time friend Isabel Douglas, 79, who was a good friend of his late wife Margaret, said: "Robert was a real gentleman. You don't get many men like that any more.

"I saw him on Thursday and he was dressed so nicely and well turned out."

An emotional Mrs Douglas pointed up to the sky and added: "I feel like he's up there now with Margaret."

Mr Jenkins was one of the final victims of the tragedy to be identified, along with Colin Gibson, 33, from Ayr. Dionne Chivas, 24, a mother-of-one from Ayr, said: "Colin was my cousin's partner and I knew him for about two years.

"He was a lovely guy who would speak to everybody and he was really family orientated.

"It is just so sad that he passed away. He will be sadly missed and never be forgotten.

"My condolences go out to his family. He was just a happy, cheery person who was always smiling."

Pilot David Traill, 51, died alongside police constables Tony Collins, 43, and Kirsty Nelis, 36.

The other people killed inside the pub have been named as friends Samuel McGhee, 56, and John McGarrigle, 57, 48-year-old Gary Arthur from Paisley, and Mark O'Prey, 44, from East Kilbride.

The helicopter was owned and operated by Bond Air Services and leased to the Scottish Police Authority.

Bond said Captain Traill was one of the company's most experienced pilots and "the epitome of the consummate professional". In a statement, Bond said: "Dave Traill was an esteemed colleague, a legend amongst his peers and above all, everyone's friend. Never short of a witty comeback, it went hand in hand with his dry sense of humour.

"Taken from us too early, he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and friendship. We will miss him."

The funeral of Mr Collins will be held on Arran next week. He spent a large portion of his life on the island, where his parents Geoff and Margaret ran a fruit and vegetable shop in the main village of Brodick before retiring. His farewell tribute, eulogy and prayers will be conducted on Tuesday at Lamlash Cemetery.
