Cambridge graduate Amy Li, 26, worked as a technical safety engineer in Aberdeen with multi-national firm GL Noble Denton. She died after she was pulled from the waters at Balmedie beach, Aberdeenshire.
Ms Li, who had previously worked for Oil and Gas UK, could not be revived by people who went to her aid and was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she died on Sunday.
Pekka Paasivaara, a member of the executive board of the GL Group said: "We are deeply saddened to have learned that Amy Li passed away over the weekend. Amy was an exceptionally talented engineer with a reputation for approaching her endeavours with enthusiasm and humour throughout her career with GL Noble Denton. "Our thoughts are with Amy's family and friends during this difficult time."
