Two injured after light aircraft comes down near Maybole

Two people have escaped serious injury after a light aircraft crashed on a rural road.

The aircraft came down on a farm access road in Maybole, South Ayrshire, at around 3.45pm today.

Two people were on board and have been taken to hospital, but their injuries are not thought to be serious, police said.

Emergency services remain at the scene of the accident.

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 3.45pm today police received a report of a light aircraft crashing on a single track road in Maybole. We can confirm that emergency services are in attendance.

"Two people were on board and have been taken to hospital for treatment however their condition is not thought to be life threatening."
