A Scottish top flight footballer is one of two men arrested in connection with an alleged assault on Celtic player Lukasz Zaluska.

Dundee United Paul Paton has been reported to prosecutors following an incident involving the 32-year-old goalkeeper in Glasgow's Ashton Lane in the early hours of October 20.

The Northern Ireland international and recent SPFL Player Of The Month will appear in court next month in connection with the incident.

He will appear alongside former Stenhousemuir and Brechin goalkeeper Chris McCluskey. Both were team mates at Partick Thistle.

The Herald understands both men presented themselves to police and were arrested.

Mr Paton, along with team mate Mark Wilson, was left out of Dundee United's game with Inverness at the weekend while the club carries out its own investigation.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Two men aged 26 and 27 have been arrested in relation to the incident. They have since been released.

"A full report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

The men are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on November 27.
