TWO motorcyclists have been killed in two separate accidents just 30 miles apart on the same road.

The incidents happened on the A85 yesterday - the first at 11.45am between Loch Awe and Taynuilt in Argyll and the second at 4.20pm at Crianlarich in Stirlingshire.

A 34-year-old man was killed in the earlier accident after his Honda motorbike came off the road.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers are appealing for motorists to contact them and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver Honda Fireblade Motorcycle prior to 1130 hrs that morning, travelling eastbound on the A85 between Taynuilt and Loch Awe.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Road Policing Officers in Dumbarton on the non-emergency number 101."

The second crash left a dead and officers are also appealing for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

Images from the scene showed several emergency crews - including an air ambulance - taking part in the rescue operation.

Diversions were put in place to divert traffic as the road was closed off during the incident.
