Two people have been airlifted to hospital after an off-road vehicle crash in the Cairngorms.

Police and the RAF were called to the incident in the southern part of the mountain range at around 3pm today.

An RAF search and rescue helicopter was needed to transfer the pair to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman said: "At about 3pm, Police Scotland were notified of two injured persons following an incident involving an off-road vehicle in the southern Cairngorms, two casualties were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, with the assistance of the RAF search and rescue helicopter."
