UK wave power hot-spots revealed

Wave energy farms stretching more than 300 miles long, up to 90 miles offshore, could produce the equivalent of 11% of the UK's current power generation, according to new research by the Carbon Trust.

The findings have resulted in a "hot-spotting" of locations around the UK, primarily off the west coast of Scotland, particularly west of Lewis and Uist, where the best balance of wave resource against the cost of exploitation can be found.
