Union leader dies

Norman Willis, the TUC's general secretary from 1984 until 1993, has died aged 81.

The period included the the miners' strike and Mrs Thatcher's onslaught on trade unionism. He became assistant general secretary of the TUC in 1973, having worked for the TGWU.
