Verse of the finest composition wanted for poetry competition

The annual celebration of our mither tongue in verse is launched today with an appeal for entries to the McCash Scots Poetry Competition with a prize fund of £1500 on offer.

Run jointly by Glasgow University and The Herald it is hoped the competition will attract hundreds of entries, from Scotland, the UK, and across the world.

Previous years have seen entries from as far afield as Hong Kong, Alaska, Australia and the Czech Republic.
