Victim of 'opportunist' publicist says that justice has been done

A VICTIM of disgraced celebrity publicist Max Clifford said she was relieved that 'justice had been done' after his conviction.

The woman, who was attacked when had just turned 15, said she had found it sickening that the PR man had gone onto create a 'cloak of respectability' years after he attacked her.

"When I think of him he makes me shudder and he makes me feel ill," she told BBC Radio 4's PM programme.

"He was an opportunist. He saw a vulnerable person and took advantage of somebody who was a child and it was awful.

"It was a nightmare and it had huge implications for me as a young person.

"To see him then go on to become very high profile, to speak openly about other paedophiles and damn them and create a persona of a respectable high profile man, who was lauded by the media, was sickening to say the least."

The victim said it was sickening that years later, he had been able to 'create a persona' of respectability.

Victims included a movie extra, who was targeted at Clifford's office when she was 19, as he said that Charles Bronson wanted images of her in her underwear to get her in a film.

He tried to force another budding model to perform oral sex him among other incidents.

Veteran chat show host Des O'Connor and Birds of a Feather star Pauline Quirke had spoken out for his defence.

Peter Watt, director of National Services at the NSPCC, said: "Max Clifford has rightly been unmasked as a ruthless and manipulative sex offender."
