Glasgow is the latest city to offer residential moorings for barges or boats on its canal after pilot schemes in Edinburgh and Inverness.

Scottish Canals has freed up five berths on the Forth and Clyde Canal at Port Dundas and it is due to auction them on eBay in the coming months.

Markus Kroner, estates manager for Scottish Canals, said: "The launch of Living On Water here in Glasgow is a hugely exciting step. You can feel a million miles away from the city centre but it's only a 15-minute walk away."

The homes are being touted as a cheap way to live with mooring fees of around £2000 for a three-year lease and no council tax.
