What a coo: Krankie to tackle 'fall' panto

KRANKIES star Janette Tough has dismissed memories of an on-stage tumble to perform in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk this Christmas.

The star and her husband, Ian, have teamed up with Torchwood star John Barrowman for a third year in a row to appear at Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium.

In December, Mrs Tough, who found fame as Wee Jimmy Krankie, will take on the role of Jimmy Trot, brother of Barrowman's Jack.

The performer was injured in a 2004 production of the show when she fell from the beanstalk prop at the city's Pavilion theatre.

However, she said: "It was eight years ago and you just put it behind you.

"It's like if somebody crosses the road and something bad happens to them and they're okay afterwards.

"It doesn't mean you're not going to cross the road again."

The star said producers Qdos had not yet revealed whether she would climb the beanstalk in this show.

Ian, who will play Farmer Trot, father of Jimmy and Jack, said the show would follow the winning formula behind last year's Robinson Crusoe and 2010's Aladdin.

He said: "We've got some good stuff lined up, some nice sketches, some good slapstick and a big patriotic bit at the end to do with the Scottish Olympic winners."

Glasgow-born actor, singer and presenter Barrowman said he was looking forward to some laughs with his co-stars.

He said: "We can play right to the kids because they see Jack, Jimmy and their dad doing all this stuff but the adults know it's John, Ian and Janette who are having a bit of fun, so those jokes go to them and just go right over the kids' heads."
