White Christmas on Cairn Gorm

SKIERS and snowboarders flocked to Cairn Gorm yesterday, taking the visitor total to 10,000 since the beginning of December.

By midday, more than 900 snowsports enthusiasts were on the slopes at the popular Highland resort, and 250 visitors made the journey on the funicular to watch the snowsports and take in the views from the mountain.

Resort managers said good skiing was available on many of the runs, while more snow is forecast for later in the week. Conditions yesterday were described as excellent, with only light winds.
