TELEVISION star Holly Willoughby has bemoaned the loss of live Saturday children's TV.

This Morning presenter Willoughby, 32, kickstarted her career on youth shows such as Ministry Of Mayhem and CD:UK.

Live shows such as Tiswas, Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, and Going Live! are seen by some as representing a golden age of children's TV and helped launch the careers of Chris Tarrant, Noel Edmonds and Phillip Schofield. She said: "I do think it's a shame there's no live Saturday morning children's TV any more. Most presenters now – me and Reggie Yates, Fearne Cotton, Phil Schofield, Cat Deeley, Ant and Dec – came from kids' telly. So you do wonder where the next generation will come from."

Willoughby said she would also like to act in a period drama. "It's all about putting on a corset and a big frou-frou dress, isn't it? I love all that girlie stuff."
