Wind farm halted over radar fears

PLANS for a major wind farm in the Scottish Borders have been thrown out following objections by the Ministry of Defence.

They opposed the application due to possible interference with radar over the English border at RAF Spadeadam in Cumbria. Concerns were also raised about the effect on seismic monitoring at Eskdalemuir in Dumfriesshire and over the visual impact of the eight turbines.

ABO Wind UK were refused permission for the development near Roberton, Roxburghshire, by Scottish Borders Council. Duncan Scott, project manager, said the firm was "extremely disappointed".
