An elderly woman has died in a fire at her home.
A blaze broke out at a property in Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway last night.
Neighbours were able to remove the 89-year-old woman but she died at the scene, the Fire and Rescue Service said.
An investigation is under way into the fire in St John's Place in the Sorbie area.
