A woman involved in a car crash has died after being flown to hospital for treatment.

She was driving a black Seat Leon yesterday evening when it collided with a blue Volkswagen Golf on the A98 near Portsoy in Aberdeenshire.

An air ambulance took her to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she died, Police Scotland said.

The male driver of the Golf was also flown to the city hospital. His female passenger was taken by ambulance to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.

Police said they both have "potentially life-changing injuries".

The road was closed for investigation shortly after the crash at around 8pm.
