Woman flown to hospital after digger plunges 40ft

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being rescued from a digger which fell 40 feet down an embankment.

The woman was trapped inside the front loading digger at the bottom of the embankment at Mains of Pitcastle Farm, in Ballinluig, Perthshire, Fire Scotland said.

Fire crews attended shortly after 4pm and rescued the woman using a long board and general purpose lines.

She was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
