A FEMALE driver was slapped during a road rage incident in Glasgow.

The 29-year-old was verbally abused before being assaulted by a man, in Nitshill Road, near to Peat Road.

The victim was in a black Honda Civic, and was driving near the railway bridge at Nitshill Road when a man, driving a grey Seat Ibiza, followed her to the junction.

They both stopped at traffic lights, the man got out of his car and approached the victim's car. He began to shout and swear at her, before slapping her across the face.

Police have launched an investigation after the incident at 7.30am on Wednesday, April 3.

The man, who drove away following the incident, is described as being aged between mid-30s and mid-40s. He was wearing a high-visibility vest.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman, said: "At the time of this incident, traffic was heavy during rush hour. It is likely people would have witnessed this assault taking place.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101."
