A SUPERMARKET worker has been assaulted in an armed raid.
Masked thieves held up a Tesco Express in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, on Sunday night.
One man with a knife and another with a firearm threatened staff and stole a three-figure sum of money from the High Street store.
Police said a male worker in his 20s was assaulted and received treatment, at Monklands General Hospital in the town, for a facial injury. Two others, also in their 20s, were left "extremely distressed" by the raid.
The suspects, who wore dark clothing and ski masks, made off in a grey- or silver-coloured car.
Detective Sergeant Kenny Dalrymple said: "This was a very traumatic experience for the three men who were working in the shop.
"I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspects hanging around outside the shop or the vehicle parked in the car park prior to the robbery taking place, or anyone who may have visited the shop around 11.30pm on Sunday."
