Workman killed after being hit by reversing lorry on motorway

A workman has died after being hit by a reversing lorry on a motorway.

The 33-year-old was killed in the accident on the M8 motorway near Glasgow Airport at around 11.40pm yesterday.

He was struck by a Scania tipper lorry that was reversing at junction 28 eastbound and died at the scene, police said. No one else was injured.

A section of the motorway was closed until 5.25am this morning and traffic was diverted.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
