THE X Factor stepped ahead of rival Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday for the first time in 2014.
ITV's contest drew an average audience of 8.8 million while Strictly pulled in 8.5m. So far this year the BBC1 show was in the lead, although by the narrowest of margins the previous Sunday with just 30,000 viewers in it. Strictly was still in front on Saturday.

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
