THE Prince's Trust in Scotland has celebrated its brightest stars at an annual awards ceremony recognising the achievements of young people who have succeeded against the odds.

The Celebrate Success Awards, now in their 11th year, mark the progress disadvantaged youngsters have made in life and the positive impact they have had in their local communities.

This year's winners include: Kerry Cheyne, Samsung Young Achiever of the Year; Scott Sutherland, HSBC Breakthrough Award; Ryan Horner, Martin Currie Charitable Foundation Young Ambassador of the Year; Greig Watson, ISSOS International Educational Achiever of the Year; Caitlin Ross, Arnold Clark Flying Start Award; and Emma McDonald, RBS Enterprise Award.

A group of youths known as Perth Team 7 also secured the AG Barr Community Impact Award.

Young Achiever of the Year, Miss Cheyne, 22, from Aberdeen, took part in a four-week course with the Trust to get into social care. Despite traumatic memories from her time in the care system when she was younger, she has now landed her dream job helping people with disabilities.

She said: "The Prince's Trust has been phenomenal. There is no way I could thank them enough for what they've done for me, there are no words."
