ONE of Scotland's brightest young tennis stars has threatened to quit the country over problems with her training facilities.
Anastasia Mikheeva, 14, is considered to be one of the country's best hopes for women's tennis glory.
However, the Edinburgh starlet has warned that she may have to leave Scotland as her family are struggling to afford court time.
Anastasia, who won the prestigious Nike Junior Under-14s Tour in December and previously won British and European under-12 championships, was able to use the elite courts at Craiglockhart for free, but staff spotted a fault on her membership card and she now has to pay £100 a week.
Anastasia's father, Andrei, has struggled to afford the fees and claims his daughter's training regime is falling behind her competitors. She was invited on to the Performance Access Scheme (PAS), which offers training facilities for free or at knock-down rates, in May.
Her father said: "I will be very sad if we have to move.
"We have had lots of offers, including England, Spain and the US, to come and train there for free."
Tennis Scotland is due to meet the Mikheevs.
An Edinburgh Leisure spokeswoman apologised and said: "There has been an error with the PAS card and she has been provided with access at no cost when our support provides access at a subsidised rate."
