A TEENAGER who was attacked on a street in Ayrshire has died from his injuries.

Jon Wilson, 13, was left seriously injured following an incident near Queen’s Drive in Kilmarnock at 2.40am on Sunday.

It is understood the Kilmarnock Academy student was chased before being stabbed.

He was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where he died yesterday.

Gillian Cochrane, a neighbour of the Wilson family, said Jon’s death was a “tragedy”.

“His family are devastated,” she added.

Prior to Jon’s death, his aunt Jean McMurdo posted a message on a social networking site expressing her disgust at the attack.

An East Ayrshire Council spokeswoman said: “Our thoughts are presently with his family and friends, to whom we extend our sincerest condolences.”

Pupils at the Kilmarnock school are being offered counselling.

Police said Jon’s family has been told about his death.

It is understood that his parents, Jon and Nanette, split up four years ago and that the teenager moved from Auchinleck to live with his mother in Gatehead Place.

Jordan McCreadie, 16, of Kilmarnock, appeared at the town’s sheriff court charged with murder last night. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
