A CONSTRUCTION worker has been rushed to hospital after an accident at a fast food outlet.

Emergency services were called to the incident in McDonald's in Glasgow city centre early this morning.

The worker is understood to have been carrying out repairs when his arm was pinned under "fallen equipment".

Police were at the scene in Jamaica Street, near to the corner Argyle Street, shortly before 8am today.

A source said the man had suffered "serious arm injuries" and will undergo surgery.

Police were called after the alarm was raised.

A spokesman said: "Officers responded to reports of an industrial accident occurring in McDonald's, in Jamaica Street at 7.50am on Tuesday August 4.

"The male was removed and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed."

The Health and Safety Executive has confirmed it is investigating the incident.

A spokeswoman said: "The Health and Safety Executive is aware and are making initial inquiries."
