A GROUP of neighbours in Grangemouth are celebrating winning a share of £2 million in the People's Postcode Lottery.

A total of 192 winners living in the postcode area of FK3 9 shared the prize pot, with winnings ranging from £613 to £222,222 in the August draw.

Seven residents scooped £111,111, while the biggest prize went to Helen Tonner (known as Eileen), who plays with two tickets.

Mrs Tonner told People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Judie McCourt "it's not quite real" as she showed up on her doorstep with the large cheque.

The retired nurse, who has three children and three grandchildren, was delighted that she was not the only winner on the street.

She said: "Everyone who lives here is so lovely, we’ll be having a postcode street party tonight."

She added: "My granddaughter has already requested an iphone 6 but it’s so great to be able to treat my family to whatever they need. I also want to organise a nice family gathering very soon."

Neighbour Lorraine Hamilton was equally shocked with her win and screamed with delight as she received her cheque for £111,111.

"I want a designer handbag," she said. "The best in the shop."

The A&E nurse added: "This is the first time I’ve been lucky with a prize but I’ve been very lucky in life. I have great friends and family and want to treat them all."

Other winners scooping £111,111 include Lyn Neary, who is about to become a grandmother for the third time, and best friends Roger Fairlie and Julia Marshall.

Neighbours Jill Moyes, Karen Quinn and Lynsay Mulhall were also delighted to win the sum and all said they were looking forward to booking holidays with the money.

Ambassador Judie McCourt, who handed out all of the cheques, said: "It was such an amazing atmosphere today in Grangemouth. All the winners knew each other and the whole street celebrated together. I hope all of the lucky winners enjoy spending their money."

The People's Postcode Lottery is also a charity and has awarded more than £79.2 million to charities and good causes.
