The family of a lorry driver killed in a double fatal road accident on a country road have spoken of their devastation.

Farquhar Kennedy, 54, known to his family and friends as Frankie, died in the three vehicle crash on the A90 Foveran to Balmedie road, near Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, on September 28.

Another lorry driver, Rimas Kuskys, 43, also died and a female motorist, who had been travelling in a Vauxhall Mokka, was treated in hospital for minor injuries following the collision between the two HGV's.

Mr Kennedy's son Greig Kennedy said: "We are devastated at the loss of dad, or Frankie as he was known to his family and friends.

"He absolutely loved golf and we have so many memories of him enjoying the sport he loved.

"His partner has lost her soulmate and we as a family are distraught and can't believe what has happened. We also send our condolences to the family and friends of Rimas Kuskys.

"We ask that we are now given time to grieve in private to come to terms with our sad loss."

Police are carrying out an investigation into the incident which shut the section of the road in both directions for almost 12 hours.

It left vehicle debris scattered across the carriageway and delayed public transport into Aberdeen.

The employees of both the victims have paid tribute to the men and have promising to assist the police with their inquiries.

Mr Kuskys was employed by haulage firm Asco.

The company has been offering support to Mr Kuskys's family and has offered its condolences to Mr Kennedy's relatives.
