Glasgow music fans were today treated to an impromptu, pop-up gig by rock band Coasts, as part of the Budweiser Live Project.

The group, whose singles include A Rush of Blood and Oceans, performed a short set at St. Enoch Square in front of surprised onlookers.

This one-off was part of the unique music tour from Budweiser that will see British acts go across the UK in a bespoke tour and bus and put on free gigs in various cities over three weeks this autumn.

Each week, the nationwide live event - open to people aged 18 and over - will feature a different headline artist, as well as a support act and local artist from each of the chosen locations.

And, today's set in the city centre was a warm-up to The Wombats’ and Coasts’ sold-out show on Tuesday evening at the Queen Margaret Union.

Isabelle Maratier, Senior Brand Manager for Budweiser said: “Budweiser is a brand that facilitates epic, unforgettable moments in music – whether it’s enabling fans to experience great live music in intimate venues, or delighting music fans with a surprise gig in an epic location, like we did in Glasgow.

“Seeing how excited and surprised the crowd was to see Coasts at St. Enoch Square was great, and is exactly what we were hoping for when we set up the Budweiser Live Project.”

Coasts, who are about to embark on a UK tour of their own alongside Dive In, added: “It was a very special experience playing the pop-up show for the Budweiser Live Project in St Enoch Square in Glasgow.

"As we stepped onto the stage the rain stopped and the sun broke through the clouds. Thank you to all the people of Glasgow who came out to see us!”
