Police are continuing the search for hillwalker Robin Garton, who has been missing for more than two weeks.

Mr Garton, 69, from Devizes, Wiltshire, was last seen in the Glencoe area of the Highlands on the morning of Friday September 25.

The search has involved the police dive team, which focused on the River Coe and surrounding areas.

Police officers and search dogs will be joined this weekend by Glencoe mountain rescue team to cover routes he may have taken.

On Tuesday, Mr Garton's family issued an emotional appeal for information to "assist in bringing Robin home to his wife and children''.

South Highland area commander Brian Mackay said: "This weekend brings the start of the October school holidays, so it is predicted Glencoe and the surrounding areas will see an increase in hillwalkers and visitors.

"Officers are appealing to those planning to visit the area to consider the appeal for information and report anything that may assist the search, no matter how insignificant they may feel it to be, to police on 101."

Mr Garton is described as 6ft 2ins and of slim to medium build with fair hair which is slightly balding. He occasionally wears glasses.

He checked out of the Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe at about 8am. Officers traced his black Volkswagen Passat estate car in the Achnambeithach car park, off the A82 by Loch Achtriochtan.

It is believed Mr Garton may have had made plans to walk in the Coire Nam Beith or Bidean Nam Bian areas.
