Sean Connery's Diamonds are no longer forever.

The former James Bond star is selling two pieces of jewellery bought during his 40-year film career.

A “fancy orangy pink diamond pendant” - valued at over £1 million and a single jewel in a ring - are to go under the hammer in Switzerland today.

They are being auctioned by Sotheby’s in Geneva as part of a sale of 'magnificent and noble' jewels.

The 85-year-old actor, who retired from acting after The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen a decade ago, is estimated to be worth over £100 m.

The catalogue for the sale describes the items as "property of Sir Sean Connery."

The prize item is the : “Fancy orangy pink diamond pendant.

“The pear-shaped diamond [is] a briolette fancy orangy pink diamond weighing 15.20 carats.”

The estimated value is between estimated at £1.59m to £1 million.

The second item to go under the hammer is a platinum ring “set with a pear-shaped diamond weighing 5.18 carats.” It is expected to fetch over £165,000.

Sir Sean quit acting on screen after an infamous bust up with the director of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in which he played Allan Quatermain as well as being Executive Producer on The Extraordinary League of Gentlemen.

The orginal 007 said it would take a "Mafia hit man" to get him back in front of the film cameras again.

In fact he was offered the role of Gandalf - which went to Sir Ian McKellen and a share of the profits in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which would have been worth £300m, but he turned it down.

Connery, now splits his time between retirement in the Bahamas and New York.

In 2011, his publicist Nancy Seltzer confirmed that Edinburgh-born Sir Sean had officially retired from public appearances but said he was in good health “mentally and physically.”

He has since appeared at tennis tournaments in support of Andy Murray and gave support to the SNP ahead of last year’s independence referendum.
