ACTRESS Dawn Steele sparkles on the red carpet ahead of tonight's Scottish BAFTA awards in Glasgow.

Emma Thompson and David Tennant are among those expected to attend the ceremony, presented by Edith Bowman at the city's Radisson Hotel.

Robert Carlyle, who is up for two awards for The Legend of Barney Thomson, which he directed, is unable to attend, due to non-stop filming commitments.

The film received four nominations in the film actor, film actress, film/television director and feature film categories.

A lifetime achievement award is due to be presented to Bill Paterson one of Scotland's leading actors for almost five decades.

A total of 20 trophies will be handed out to honour the best work produced in film, television and games.
