Plans for the restoration of Donaldson's College and the creation of a new crescent overlooking the historic building in Edinburgh were unveiled in August.
In 2012 the A-Listed structure was added to the Buildings At Risk Register by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.
The developer of the new St James Quarter has John Lewis as its flagship department store in the £850 million revamp of the eyesore building.
The focus however has been on its centrepiece which has been described as the the turd hotel after author Candia McWilliam said it "resembled dog dirt".
A new public square is planned for the Royal Mile as part of a £150 million re-invention of the Caltongate development in the Old Town World Heritage Site.
Developer Artisan Real Estates Investors unveiled plans which include a 46-apartment Adagio Aparthotel which will overlook a new £6.5 million public square.
