ROAD workers have left motorists bemused after failing to remember how many days there are in February.

An old rhyme that February “has 28, and 29 in a leap year” was apparently lost on Scotland Transerv, whose staff left out signs informing drivers that it would be closed on “February 31 and 1.”

They were erected near a busy dual-carriageway in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, as part of a 24-hour closure that has since been postponed.

The signs should have read January 31 and February 1.
With 2016 a Leap Year, next month has 29 days.

One motorist said: “I was left scratching my head after spotting the signs.

“I couldn’t tell if they had got it wrong or if it was me.
“When I gathered my senses I realised there are only 29 days in February.

“So I knew the signs were definitely out.”

Transerv said: “We have identified that the information displayed on the advanced warning signs at this location is incorrect.”
