A former public toilet which is for sale on Orkney has attracted international attention.

The local council is looking for a buyer for the 28ft by 9ft facility in Stromness and said they had received interest from Scandinavia.

The toilet, which is situated at Mayburn Court, is close to the Stromness Museum and to the home of the late Scottish poet George MacKay Brown.

Hayley Green, head of building and facilities at the Orkney Islands Council, said: "Although the property is small, it is unique and quirky.

"An imaginative person could convert the building into something really interesting and it's in a great location.

"The council is delighted that it's receiving so much interest."

The ladies and gents facilities have not been used for five years.

Offers in excess of £5,000 can be made until 12pm on Wednesday, February 17.
